Lady GaGa: Copycat In Her Own Right

We've all bared witness recently to the backlash that Christina Aguilera has gotten from her "GaGa" inspired VMA performance. But is it really Lady AgAg who should be baring the brunt of this assault?

We've been through the fact that GaGa totally bites her style from Grace Jones, Andy Warhol, David Bowie, and Debbie Harry, but little has been said about her true inspiration: Irish Electronica/Nu Jazz singer Róisín Murphy.

I was really keen on listening to Lady Gaga as I love lots of her supposed "inspirations" (and in fact Roisin Murphy) but the songs are fucking rubbish. One of her Top Friends on Myspace is Akon which speaks volumes.
Oh really? You're "inspired by androgyny and Andy Warhol"? I'M SURE YOU ARE.
I wonder what her favourite David Bowie album is? The Best Of? For fuck's sake.

Now please PLEASE don't get me wrong here, I cant STAND lady gaga OR akon.
But are you saying that you cant like akon, andy warhol and david bowie simultaneously?

I know barely anything about Roisin Murphy, but the one song I've heard by her, I really like.

And based only on that, I can say, Roisin > Gaga.

everyone changes their images so fast. so what if xtina does it now, she'll do something else for her next album. it just goes with the current concept of the album she's bringing out.

gaga will prolly just do pin-up 50s for her next one. SO WHAT? i like them both.

i dont think she gives a fuck about christina tbh. their music is too different for them to even be direct competition. i dont see xtinas music being played in clubs without ALOT of remixing.

Well, I hardly know who Gaga is, so I'm not too familiar with her style...I only know that Poker Face song...

If she didn't care that much about Christina, then why did she accuse her of copying her style? Really, it's the biggest form of flattery.
