After getting hundreds of hate emails, phone calls, and rage-filled comments over the last 24 hours, we at TMZ finally took the hint -- not everybody found the Shawn Johnson/Topo Gigio comparison hilarious. Sure, we'll eat the crow you shoved down our throats -- but you gotta check out some of the messages we got in our "contact us" mailbox. We even got a letter from an official Team USA Gymnastics rep!

So what is it, ONTD? Was TMZ out of line, or no? I don't think it's THAT huge of a deal, but I do agree with some of the e-mails that stated that she didn't put herself out there to be judged like Paris Hilton. She worked her behind off and won a gold medal at the freaking Olympics, and has been nothing but entirely understanding and gratious, especially in the face of incredibly unfair tactics by other teams (ahem, China, I'm looking at you) and judging. Plus, she is the most adorable little thing -- I want to hold her to my bosom and pat her little head. On top of all that, SHE IS A LITTLE GIRL. TMZ just goes too far. A lot. I think that blind item or whatever it is about Harvey Levin's digging TMZ's grave is true.
