PEOPLE Wins Bidding War for Pics of the Messiahs

PEOPLE Magazine Wins Bid for Brad and Angelina's Twins' Pictures



JustJared.com has just learned that People magazine has drummed up the winning bid for the first pictures of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's twins - Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline. It is rumored that the winning bid is between $10 million and $15 million. The pictures will come up in a future People magazine issue (but not this week!). The money paid to Brad and Angelina has already been earmarked for charity.

Food and Wine has recently put together restaurants and recipes for the family of 8! Restaurants for large families have been picked by select food bloggers in New York City, Washington D.C., New Orleans, San Francisco and Seattle. Simple, classic and kid-friendly French recipes were also included.

I still have the one from the late 80s/early 90s where it was white and hot pink and triangular-shaped and sectioned off in three sections. I mean, I never got rid of it, but it's sitting up in my grandma's attic in storage, in case someday I have a kid of my own.

I love Jon & Kate plus 8; a lot of people on here seem to love it too. Most people on here--at least until the kids started getting older--seemed to give them a pass re: putting their kids on a reality show b/c, otherwise, they would be unable to support themselves. They wouldn’t have starved to death but they would most likely have to take some government aid.

So here’s my question: Why is it OK for the Gosselins to put 3 seasons of some of the most detailed and private aspects of their family life on display to save the 10 of them from, at worst, subsisting on welfare yet reprehensible for the Jolie-Pitts to sell/have sold 3 photo shoots of their family to raise over $15 million which will and has saved the lives of tens of thousands of people and/or provided them and others with the most basic of healthcare needs?

P.S. In response to “Why don’t they just donate $15 million of the money they already have?”: They do and have, the photo shoot money is put towards additional charitable donations.

People with your opinion are in the minority though (granted most of them will deny it if they even comment to this thread). If you look at any Jon & Kate posts, the comments are hugely positive about the show and what they're doing.

ok, u know papparazzi are going to be fighting over the first pics of the twins,. renting out helicopters, sneaking around bushes, and possibly putting their family in danger. Why not stop that whole manhunt and just give People the exclusive rights? That way they can get paid for it as well and give the money to charity. If they just have the everyday paps fight over pics, it could be a potentially dangerous situation where the jolie-pitts gets absolutely nothing out of it

they are still selling their children. by taking these pictures they are getting free publicity for their projects (not charity, movie) and free publicity for themselves which is the number 1 thing they seem to care about. Not only this, but by taking this picture they are telling the media and the paparazzi that it is ok for them to take pictures WHERE EVER. Their family, including their children who never asked to be photographed, are fair game. They then complain about the press when they created the media fervor around themselves. Halle Berry has said she would never ever sell pictures of her children, as did Johnny Depp. And while there have been a few unseemly incidents with them and the paps, for the most part those kids are going to have a better life because of it.

Well, I read in a quote from Kate the other day that she said society is responsible for her children because she has 8 of them. I don't think Brangelina feel the same way.

I totally agree with you. I don't see it as "selling" their children, even though that's what a lot of the other people on here seem to think. If magazines are desperate and stupid enough to give out millions of dollars just for a couple of photos of a baby, and Angelina Jolie is willing to take advantage of that for charity, then more power to her. Especially when these are the same magazines that hound her with candid cameras everywhere, put her children in danger, and write false stories about her and her family on the cover of their magazine.
The magazine is going to get photos of the babies sooner or later, so why not? There are babies on this website that I see WAY more than any of the Jolie-Pitt children anyway.

Anyway, I really admire Angelina for all that she does for charities and children around the world, having lived in a third world country myself and working in an orphanage that was struggling even feeding the children. She is just using her fame for the better. And she obviously loves her children, you can tell.

Exactly - eventually the papparazzi will get a photo and whoever takes it will get paid a hell of a lot of money by these exact same magazines! Would people rather see millions go into a papparazzo's pocket or to help thousands of people around the world?

exactly, people dont get that. people are relentless tog et exclusive pictures, and it will be even more insane tog et pictures of "the golden children". this way they can prevent a potentially dangerous situation (its literally like a bounty is on their head) and do some good from it by donating the money to charity

by selling the pictures they invite the paparazzi to come and take the pictures for free. plenty of celebrities make sure their children are safe and protected from the press. sure, the paparazzi will come and go but they are creating massive hype around their children that will make the paps want to take their picture even more.

whats a better shot for a photog? Halle Berry's baby who she doesn't want to commodity or Brangelina's 15 million dollars bundles of joy!

oh, boo hoo. I hope Brad and Angelina will raise their kids well enough that they understand that FIFTEEN MILLION DOLLARS FOR CHARITY is a bfd. I don't think this will cause them anymore issues (and it is much more justifiable) then the whole ~my parents are the most sought after couple in the world~ and ~my birth was anticipated as that of a messiah~ things.

Why is it wrong though? No one has yet to make an ethical argument against this. Like the other person basically said, why not turn this into something good, because the magazines will get their photographs regardless you know?

Honestly I think it's more wrong to be so vehemently against helping many MANY people with that $15 million, no matter where it came from.

The paps/magazines are going to pocket the money anyways unless Brad and Angelina keep the twins under lock and key for the next 18 years. Might as well give that money to people who actually need it instead of lining the greedy pockets of some sketchy "journalists"/bottom-feeders.

not really. the amount they are paying the will not recoup unless the tripled or quadrupled the price of each mag. they're doing it for the prestige of having the pictures.

They probably wont make the money back on sales of the actual issue alone, but they will recoup that money with ad revenue, hits on their website, resale of the pictures, etc. Initially, they are doing it for prestige and name exposure, but eventually, they should make that money back.
