Lauren Conrad Doesn’t Really Design Her Clothing Line
It looks like LC's fashion designing career could be as fake as "The Hills"!
Sources close to the Lauren Conrad line tell us LC's claim that she's involved in every step of the design process is completely bogus. We're told, "You never see her picking out fabrics, or in the cutting room, or even at the drawing board. She's not the designer, the only step she's involved in is the promotion."
We're also told the clothing line mainly is fashioned by Sherri Roozrak-Wood, a former designer for Tart. And surprise! LC's clothes look an awful lot like some of the old Tart designs.
Our spies were at Kress nightclub last week, and they tell us they overheard LC tell an aspiring designer that she wished she knew how to sketch. Cuts you up!
We talked to LC about the claims made, and she tells us, "These claims are ridiculous. Anyone who knows me knows how important designing is to me and how much time and devotion I put into my own line. I am and always have been the sole designer of the Lauren Conrad Collection."

but her clothes were so ~*edgy*~
Both the LC and Tart collections are very generic. You can pick up the same stuff in Forever 21 for a fraction of the cost. Anyone who spends more $ just so they can say they're wearing an LC piece has more money than sense.
Tacky.
Ty.
but not Audrina her stupidity and uselessness is endearing
I recently worked on House of Dereon.. the clothing line is outsourced to one vendor and the handbags to another. Beyonce came in to check out the line a couple times a year, but Tina actually was surprisingly involved.. at least in the approval process and made herself very accessible to hands on meetings with the design team.
The amount of work that goes into producing a line of mid-tier clothing or accessories is actually kindof dumbfounding. Mostly because to keep a product at a cheap pricepoint.. say under $100 you have to strip your designs down to bare bones and it is very challenging to make something look good when it has to cost $5 to make.
That being said Id love to see LC spend eight hours a day sketching stitchlines and zipper pulls in illustrator and then flying to China 4x a year to spend two weeks in a factory where the toilets dont have bowls (you have to crouch over a hole in the ground.. im not even kidding!) approving crappy pre-production.
UGH!
