A uncharacteristically spastic Jon Stewart was just on the Today; he eschewed any real questions about his gig hosting the Oscars and instead chose to mock most of America by acting like a crack-happy tourist outside of the empty Rockefeller Center studios. As he climbed around the fencing normally used to corral inanely giddy Today fans, a slightly irritated Katie Couric (interviewing from Torino) asked if Stewart was nervous about the Oscar ceremony. When he explained that Xanax would get him through it, she warned against mixing the pills with cough syrup. She would know, of course.

George Clooney and Renée Zellweger were spotted looking cosy at a post Bafta party - sparking rumours they may rekindle their romance. The Hollywood stars, who dated several years ago, spent the evening chatting and drinking cocktails at Clooney's aftershow bash at London's swanky Dorchester Hotel. At the end of the night, the pair disappeared down a hallway with a bottle of champagne, according to reports.

HEATH LEDGER is so close to his BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN co-star JAKE GYLLENHAAL, he has asked him to be Godfather to his four-month-old daughter MATILDA.

Los Angeles Zoo names ‘Golden Girls’ actress as an ambassador.
The Happy Homemaker is now an animal ambassador.
Actress Betty White, whose many TV roles included domestic guru Sue-Ann Nivens on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" in the 1970s, was honored by the Los Angeles Zoo Monday for her commitment to animals.
The zoo made the Emmy-winning star an Ambassador to the Animals at a ceremony attended by about 50 people, including Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
A bronze plaque will be placed next to the zoo's gorilla exhibit, home to White's favorite animal.
"Betty has such a big heart and a beautiful spirit. She is a 'Golden Girl' in every sense of the word," Villaraigosa said, referring to White's former TV series, which ran from 1985 to 1992.
White, 84, joked that the honor would make her "tough to live with from now on."
"I'm not sure what I'm going to do as ambassador except to love the animals as I have all my life," she said.
White has served for more than three decades on the Morris Animal Foundation and the board of the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association, and has been a zoo commissioner for eight years. She also has written two animal-related books and received the Humane Award from the American Veterinary Medical Association.

LONDON, England -- Prince Charles is entitled to keep his personal documents confidential in the same way as the "humblest private citizen," a British High Court judge was told on Tuesday.
The Prince of Wales is asking Mr. Justice Blackburne to rule that The Mail on Sunday breached his confidentiality and copyright when it published extracts from his journals.
He claims the diaries were copied by a former member of his staff and given to the newspaper.
The Mail on Sunday has already published unflattering comments by the heir to Britain's throne on the handover of Hong Kong to China when he described Chinese diplomats as "appalling old waxworks."
Hugh Tomlinson QC, representing the prince, who also wants seven other diaries copied by a "disloyal former employee" returned, told the court on Tuesday: "We are not dealing with state secrets.
"We are dealing with an ordinary type of personal journal of the type that any citizen might make in respect of a foreign trip, recording thoughts and impressions.
"We say it is absolutely vital to the position of the claimant -- and anyone else in his position -- that this sort of document cannot be published willy nilly by the press and that is the reason we brought this action."
Tomlinson said the prince recognised that his role in the life of the nation would attract comment and criticism. "What he says, however, is that like everyone else -- from the humblest private citizen to the highest public figure -- he is entitled to keep his personal documents private."
The prince wants the material returned, including his 3,000-word journal, which he entitled "The Handover of Hong Kong -- or The Great Chinese Takeaway," which was quoted in the newspaper article.
The newspaper, together with other media organizations, is trying to stop the case being made the subject of secrecy orders by the courts.
Mr. Justice David Richards ruled at a hearing earlier this month that a witness statement, provided by Mark Bolland, a former deputy private secretary to the prince who is giving evidence for the Mail on Sunday, should be made available to lawyers for media organizations.
The judge said he was doing this so that the media could argue before the trial judge, who would have to decide whether the hearing should be heard totally in public or partly in private.
The former member of Charles' staff accused of copying the journals was named as Sara Goodall who was employed as secretary to the Deputy Private Secretary at St. James's Palace from 1988 until December 2000 when she was sacked.

Um, I don't know exactly what happened to Ashlee Simpson, but she looks really, really weird. It's not an obvious weird (or maybe it is), but she doesn't seem to look like she normally does. It actually looks like she's had massive facial reconstructive surgery, and they got it almost right. But something is definitely off.
First off, her tanning lotion has made her skin look completely orange and ridiculous. Especially in contrast to her bleach blonde hair extensions. Then there's her lips. Can anyone say collagen!? Her upper lip is huge. She either had collagen injections, or she got punched in the face by her manager dad for using too much self-tanner lotion. But what makes me think she was in some kind of horrible accident, and recontructed like the Cyborg on Smallville last night is her feet. Check out the closeup of her feet after the jump, but beware! It's not a pretty sight.

LOS ANGELES, CA, United States (UPI) -- Brad Pitt will take over the film studio he founded with his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, KNBC-TV, Los Angles, reported Tuesday.
Court papers detailing the couple`s divorce settlement show Pitt will get the former couple`s $50 million Plan B Productions while Aniston will retain only a minor stake in the studio.
Aniston`s share of the settlement includes their $29 million estate in Beverly Hills, KNBC said.
The couple split in January 2005 and filed for divorce in October.

Mischa Barton has launched a scathing attack on socialite Paris Hilton accusing the hotel heiress of being insecure and publicity hungry.
Barton, who reportedly fell foul of Hilton's circle of friends when she began dating Kimberly Stewart'S ex-fiance Cisco Adler, insists the heiress' insecurities are to blame for her cruel comments.
She says, "I met her one or two times and she's making out there's this big rivalry between us and there so isn't.

Mischa Barton has launched a scathing attack on socialite Paris Hilton accusing the hotel heiress of being insecure and publicity hungry.
Barton, who reportedly fell foul of Hilton's circle of friends when she began dating Kimberly Stewart'S ex-fiance Cisco Adler, insists the heiress' insecurities are to blame for her cruel comments.
She says, "I met her one or two times and she's making out there's this big rivalry between us and there so isn't.
"She seems to hate everyone around her age who is more successful."

British singer JAMES BLUNT sold his little sister to a wealthy man on auction website eBay - and his sibling has enjoyed a nine-month romance with the lucky bidder and is moving in with him next month (SEP05).
The YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL star put his sister EMILY up for sale because she had no transport and needed a man to take her to a funeral.
And fortunately, a man bought the 27-year-old and flew her to the ceremony in his own helicopter.
Blunt explains, "She needed to get to a funeral in Ireland. It was within 24 hours and she couldn't get there. The trains, the ferries, the planes, nothing was working.

mark wahlberg's upcoming projects
Okay, I don't know how many of you are Mark Mark fans but...
A lot of celebs are in Tampa for the Outback pro am golf tournament. Today many of them were doing a practice tournament at the golf course I work at, and Mark Wahlberg was one of them. He is super nice and really small! I was surprised at what a little guy he is. I knew he was really short, but he didn't look like the bad ass, ripped guy I have seen in Four Brothers, ect. He was saying that he hasn't been working out lately cause he's been busy practicing his golf game. He also mentioned that in December he will begin shooting the sequal to Italian Job. I was surprised at his complete lack of arrogance. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met, and kept saying "thank you." It was really great to meet such a nice celebrity.

"This is Axl Rose (standing next to my boyfriend and a bunch of English teenagers) at JFK airport last Thursday. He was very pleasant and cool to talk to.
I'm assuming he was heading to Europe as we were in the British Airways terminal. Since he's allegedly coming out with a new album this spring, I figured that a celeb gossip aficionado like you might enjoy seeing what he's up to."

Jessica Simpson is reportedly furious that her show, Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica, gave her a 'dumb blonde' image because she was forced to follow a script. She blames the show's bosses for making her look stupid. She said:
"People should know there was a script of sorts and I just played that role. I am nothing like that character."
She did not go on to say, "Look, okay, they told me stuff like 'act natural' and 'do whatever'. I told them no, but then they would say things like 'okay, cut!'. It made me scared. Then I stamped my feet until daddy gave me my blankie and a pretty pony." Oh and just so we're clear, Joe Simpson came up with the concept for the show and pitched it to MTV. He's also producing the movie, Employee of the Month, which Jessica's currently filming. Why he doesn't just go around wearing a mink coat and gator boots we'll never know.

Boy George is once again facing persistent questions about his drug use. In just over two weeks' time, he is due in court again in New York over charges of possessing cocaine, after police allegedly found 13 bags of the drug in his Manhattan apartment. And if he thought he could leave this controversy behind, it quickly became apparent that he could not.
First there was Chris Evans making pointed drugs jokes at his expense at the Brits. Then, more damagingly, his former agent Andria Law yesterday begged George to get help. "He's in a dark place at the moment, not wanting to admit the state he's in," Law, who worked with George for 20 years, is quoted as saying. "We are deeply worried about him." Law and a fellow agent, who were both sacked by George in November, claim that George is now a recluse who spends most of his time surfing the internet and snorting coke. They allege his current addiction started in 2002 after being prescribed sleeping pills, and now when he is in New York clubs, "he would walk up to anyone and everyone and ask if they had drugs. He didn't give a damn".
...George has very distinct ideas about whether people are the proper kind of gay. George Michael is the wrong kind, according to George, for being caught in a California loo and thus enforcing the reputation that gays are "rampant". He remains furious that Elton John performed with homophobic Eminem in 2002 at the MTV awards.
"We live in a culture that pretends to accept and understand, but which doesn't want to deal with the finer details of gay culture. Just because you have a few queers in Emmerdale, there is this myth that the world has become more tolerant. It doesn't understand us at all. I have asked a lot of straight men about Brokeback Mountain and they said they couldn't relate to it."
...He says he has always been drawn to things that are quite homophobic, like reggae and ragga music. "What is that Morrissey song? The more you ignore me, the closer I get ... that sums me up. I am antagonistic. If I hear a ragga song about burning and shooting gay people, I will stand up and say something."

Ford, who dated Carter years before Hilton fell for the pop star in 2004, was unnerved when Hilton made a point of prowling in front of her booth at the Hard Rock Hotel - and decided to take action before The Simple Life star said something she'd later regret.

Radiohead will finally expose a track that is nearly ten years in the making.
The band has decided to include the song, "Nude," which was originally supposed to appear on 1997's OK Computer, on the new album, which they are currently working on with producer Mark "Spike" Stent (Bjork, Madonna). On Monday [February 20], frontman Thom Yorke wrote on the band's official site: "Jonny [Greenwood] is hastily writing out scores for a string quartet who are coming tomorrow. Right now we are working on "Nude." It sounds beautiful, as far as I can tell."
While the track has been played live since the band's promotional tour for OK Computer, this is the first time it will appear on any official studio albums. The album is slated to be released later this year, according to NME.
Late last year guitarist Ed O'Brien told BBC 1 that Radiohead would tour behind the new release in the summer of 2006.

Pharoahe Monch Album On The Way Via New Deal With Steve Rifkind's New Label.
Pharoahe Monch has joined forces with Loud Records/SRC founder Steve Rifkind to release Monch's first album since his 1999 debut Internal Affairs, on Rawkus Records.
Pharaohe Monch will release his highly anticipated album, Desire, on a new unnamed label Rifkind has founded and runs, after a bidding war which is also distributed by Universal.
A bidding war for Pharoahe's new album was reportedly between Sony, Bad Boy and Eminem's Shady Records.
Rifkind eventually signed the rapper after hearing what he dubbed "the album of the year."
"On a creative and business level, I've never been this excited," Monche said in a statement. "I've had the time to work on this album, and being a perfectionist, it's really come to fruition. It's very soulful, very gospel, a fresh, new sound for me. It shows so much growth spiritually, almost as if I'm a new artist. When I play the record for people, that's how they hear it."
Pharoahe Monch was a member of the renowned group Organized Konfusion.
After releasing his critically acclaimed album Internal Affairs, label politics slowed down the rapper's career.
Rawkus signed a distribution deal with MCA and later, the label was absorbed into Geffen.
Monch recorded an album for Geffen but the recording was never released as the rapper attempted to free himself of the Geffen deal.
"There's an element of obvious patience, but that's just who I am," he said. "I've learned that it was best for me to wait for the best situation. Everything happens for a reason. This is my expression and creation. I know people are waiting for this album, and I respect my fans enough to put out quality music."
The first single from the album will be the white labeled "When the Gun Draws," which will be accompanied by a short film.
"It's a concept record," said the rapper. "About life from the perspective of a bullet."
The first commercial single will be "Push."
No release date was available for the album as of press time.

"On a creative and business level, I've never been this excited," Monche said in a statement. "I've had the time to work on this album, and being a perfectionist, it's really come to fruition. It's very soulful, very gospel, a fresh, new sound for me. It shows so much growth spiritually, almost as if I'm a new artist. When I play the record for people, that's how they hear it."
Pharoahe Monch was a member of the renowned group Organized Konfusion.
After releasing his critically acclaimed album Internal Affairs, label politics slowed down the rapper's career.
Rawkus signed a distribution deal with MCA and later, the label was absorbed into Geffen.
Monch recorded an album for Geffen but the recording was never released as the rapper attempted to free himself of the Geffen deal.
"There's an element of obvious patience, but that's just who I am," he said. "I've learned that it was best for me to wait for the best situation. Everything happens for a reason. This is my expression and creation. I know people are waiting for this album, and I respect my fans enough to put out quality music."
The first single from the album will be the white labeled "When the Gun Draws," which will be accompanied by a short film.
"It's a concept record," said the rapper. "About life from the perspective of a bullet."
The first commercial single will be "Push."
No release date was available for the album as of press time.
