One Half of the Halo Design Team

‘Heroes’ beauty Hayden Panettiere has designed a handbag for Dooney & Bourke. The Hayden Dooney & Bourke will go on sale in December and retail for $500.

“I wanted to do something people haven’t seen from Dooney + Burke before, so my bag is red patent leather,” the eighteen year old says.

From the Dooney Site:

What if you had the chance to design the handbag you’ve always wanted? For Hayden Panettiere, currently starring in NBC’s hit show Heroes, it was an exciting opportunity. She began by describing to Peter Dooney just what she envisioned: a large leather shoulder bag with puffy pleats, a buckle closure and great style. The design team made some sketches, then Peter Dooney transformed her ideas into prototypes at Dooney & Bourke’s design studio in Florence, Italy. After several revisions and lots of input from Hayden, the limited edition Hayden Bag was born.

Hayden Bag - $500
H 11" W 7.5" L 17"
Inside zip pocket. Cell phone pocket. Inside key hook. Handle drop length: 8.5" Lined. 18K gold finish.

Available in Black, Brown T-moro, Red and White.

SAVE THE DOLPHINS.

But fuck cows. Cows suck.
[info]somechickxoxo Re: uh9th-Nov-2007 06:48 pm (UTC)

Haha, I had the same response.
[info]solodanceparty Re: uh9th-Nov-2007 07:26 pm (UTC)
Cows are tasty!
[info]yssim999 Re: uh9th-Nov-2007 07:38 pm (UTC)
my first thought as well.
[info]lawsofeden Re: uh9th-Nov-2007 07:54 pm (UTC)
how many cows are killed expressly for leather? i'm pretty sure cow leather is a lot more ecologically friendly than mink/alligator/crocodile/etc. considering how much beef is consumed worldwide.
[info]entropicalia Re: uh9th-Nov-2007 08:01 pm (UTC)
I wasn't trying to start a debate about animal rights. Just pointing out Hayden's hypocrisy.
[info]5_3_10_4 actually youre 100% wrong9th-Nov-2007 09:29 pm (UTC)
I'm pretty sure cow farming is one of the least ecofriendly things you can do. You make a good point in noting that we dont waste the skin after we use the cow for its meat, and with minks and others used for fur that isnt the case, for crocodiles the meat is reused.. but dolphins arent killed for their skins, which is what she protested. But the truth is we could go without it all.. but murdering cows isn't more ecofriendly. Get your facts, mac.

If you care about the environment, you had better be a vegetarian. Why? Because meat consumption is one of the primary causes of environmental devastation, including the misuse of natural resources, the polluting of water and air, and the destruction of rainforests. All this comes in addition to the immense cruelty to animals and the contribution to the world hunger problem caused by the modern meat industry. In short, a carnivorous environmentalist is a hypocrite. Strong words? take a look at meat industry and judge for yourself.
Modern meat production is both wasteful and destructive. Each pound of steak from feedlot-raised steers that you eat comes at the cost of 5 pounds of grain, 2,500 gallons of water, the energy equivalent of a gallon of gasoline, and about twenty-five pounds of eroded topsoil. Indeed, over a third of the North American continent is devoted to grazing, and over a half of this country's cropland is dedicated to growing feed for livestock. What is more, the livestock industry consumes over half of the water used in the US. As Newsweek put it, "The water that goes into a 1000 pound steer would float a destroyer." As a result, underground pools of water around the world are drying up. Animal production is the major cause of falling water tables and drying wells across cattle country from western Texas to Nebraska, as the Ogalalla Aquifier, a huge underground lake that took fossil fuels millions of years to create, is consumed.
A modest 60,000-bird egg-factory creates 82 tons of manure each week, and a typical unit of 2,000 pigs creates 27 tons of manure and 32 tons of urine in a week. (which is an amazing source of methane gas)

Animals that are farmed for meat are not raised by the same people who use animals for leather. The animals are really just assets in a business plan. If your business plan is meat, you don't give a shit about leather.

Tasty, delicious, business plans. That look awesome on my feet.
[info]njuzu Re: uh9th-Nov-2007 09:16 pm (UTC)
I don't think it's hypocritical. People kill cows for actual use; Dolphins not so much.
[info]cherrynorth Re: uh10th-Nov-2007 01:16 am (UTC)
I know, right? pick a side, Hayden.
[info]martini_bianko 9th-Nov-2007 06:45 pm (UTC)
it's pretty
[info]2young2love 9th-Nov-2007 06:45 pm (UTC)

[info]mattchew03 9th-Nov-2007 06:45 pm (UTC)

that looks like all the other bags out there
[info]xweezerx83 9th-Nov-2007 06:46 pm (UTC)
it looks like all their other bags - cheap.
[info]fawn_baby 9th-Nov-2007 06:46 pm (UTC)
why would one want a bag w/ some rando tv actress's initials? or are they all personalized? idk it just seems weird to me
[info]kepp0xy 9th-Nov-2007 07:07 pm (UTC)
iawtc
[info]curebyfiction 9th-Nov-2007 06:47 pm (UTC)
way to be for animals but design a patent leather bag
[info]id_gurl 9th-Nov-2007 06:47 pm (UTC)
that is a very cute bag because it doesnt look like a Dooney bag.
Do they even have designers? Their crap is so awful.
[info]calimoonchild 9th-Nov-2007 10:30 pm (UTC)
i totaly agree. Dooney's stuff is beyond fug.
[info]divaty 9th-Nov-2007 06:47 pm (UTC)
I'd get a knockoff.
[info]scifijunkie 9th-Nov-2007 06:47 pm (UTC)
It's cute, but I cannot justify spending anywhere near that amount for a fucking purse. The most I've ever spent on a bag was my $50 Fossil purse, and that was only because it had awesome paisley lining that guaranteed that my sister would never try to steal it from me.
[info]homoserectus 9th-Nov-2007 06:47 pm (UTC)
How hard is it to take a purse, add an HP tag to it, and make it red?
I saw one just like it in pillowcase while walking down the street in NY.
And they only wanted $25.00.
[info]rumpunch13 9th-Nov-2007 06:48 pm (UTC)
fo shizzle

my best purse was $25 from the street dude in NYC and everyone always freaks out about it and asks where i got it
[info]homoserectus 9th-Nov-2007 07:00 pm (UTC)
That's the way to go.
My husband got a Folex and people always compliment him on it.
