Letter from the WGA

This afternoon, I was lucky enough to speak with one of the writers from The Daily Show! The WGA was striking outside the Time Warner Building in NYC, and he handed me a flyer. Unfortunately, I didn't get his name, but we did have a short conversation. He was really nice and asked me to help spread the word. So, here's the flyer he gave me.

Source: The good WGA folks outside the Time Warner Building, as brought to you by my digital camera

I was already a WGA supporter, and I know there have been a lot of WGA posts recently, but I like the list of execs on the back.

Also Time Warner Building-related: I saw Vince Vaughn there today, too. Tall actor is tall.

[info]lilmsmouseyhead 9th-Nov-2007 03:22 am (UTC)
They probably have to dumb it down hardcore so the morons that watch all those crap shows can understand what's going on behind the scenes.

But I laughed at your comment :)

I'll miss you TV shows! But I SUPPORT the writers.

I guess I'll have time for lots of movies, school work, and books. Not too horrible.

[info]ontd_follow_me 9th-Nov-2007 01:28 am (UTC)
i second that.
[info]crazyfruitlady 9th-Nov-2007 01:12 am (UTC)
We're only asking for a fair share. That, and we're demanding that everyone else in the entire industry joins in our strike even when it's still possible for them to continue production.
[info]trojansalsera 9th-Nov-2007 01:20 am (UTC)
well, I think that they know that the more people they pull from productions, the more likely the studios will be to relent and come to an agreement so it can end.
[info]omgangiepants 9th-Nov-2007 01:21 am (UTC)
wut
[info]veidt 9th-Nov-2007 01:23 am (UTC)
More stupidity from you, go fig.

The SAG and DGA are already highly likely to join in on the strike anyways to support their comrades.
[info]crazyfruitlady 9th-Nov-2007 01:25 am (UTC)
Didn't I tell you to stop replying to me? Ignore me and fuck off.
[info]safaiagem 9th-Nov-2007 01:34 am (UTC)
I don't see it where they are "demanding" for the entire industry to support them.
[info]vienna_sausages 9th-Nov-2007 01:50 am (UTC)
i cant tell from all your comments that you are against this, but what do you suggest should be done?
[info]dreamalynn 9th-Nov-2007 02:01 am (UTC)
They're not demanding anyone join it, but it's not necessarily possible that any show continue product. Almost every show will rewrite lines right until the final filming, especially the comedies. And if the showrunner is also a writer and editor, like Shonda Rhimes (Grey's, Private Practice) and the guys from Lost, The Office, The Shield, etc. then their editing work can be considered writing because they edit in a way that molds and refines the story. It's not as if a script is like a school paper, written, final and handed in and nothing changes with it after that.

I agree
