Demi Lovato tweets about Women Empowerment; calls out self-proclaimed feminists
Frustrating to see women come forward with their past only to be shot down, not believed & disrespected for their bravery in taking action
— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) February 21, 2016
Happens way too often. I'm ready for women to be taken just as seriously as men..
— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) February 21, 2016
Someone tell me why anyone would ever feel brave enough to come forward if they are most likely to be ignored or called a liar?
— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) February 21, 2016
I'm also ready for self-proclaimed feminists to start speaking out or taking action for women's rights.

Women empowerment is speaking up for other women even when it's something uncomfortable to speak up about.

Women empowerment is using your voice to help the voiceless women be heard.
— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) February 21, 2016
Women empowerment is taking action now, not when it's convenient.
— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) February 21, 2016
Women empowerment is leading other women to make actual changes in our society.

Everyone's making this about Demi vs Taylor, but lets not forget that there are self-proclaimed feminists like Matt McGorry who haven't said anything about Kesha. Just saying.

well said
Also, I don't care if they do it for popularity or stan wars or whatever, at least they are talking about it which is more than we can say for so many other issues. It reminds me of the ice bucket challenge, yeah a lot of people did it to go viral, but it raised awareness towards something that few people knew about.
but the main issue here is that people are making this about what women aren't doing instead of focusing on the man who was fucking abusive. this is all about him. stop putting women against women and letting him off the hook. why not ask all the men in the industry who "love" women how they feel?
Enough. Every artist in the industry should be concerned and vocal about this, not just women.

I don't give other women a pass on this. I've been in positions, workwise etc., (I work in a heavily male dominated industry) where I had to come out with info or risk my work to stand up for other women who were also being harassed etc., and I did so because I had a RESPONSIBILITY TO DO SO. Not because it was easy. I take my feminism seriously. It's not always fun, and it's not always something you want to take action on, because the consequences can be heavy, but it is OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO DO SO.
Let's also not ignore that the reason why we as women are here today is because women spoke up in the first place, even at the risk of their own lives and when they were shunned by men and women alike.
Would I like to see men also speak up, yes, but I am also not naive enough to believe they will when at the end of the day it doesn't affect them.
